An 18-year-old — one of five teenagers involved in the robbery of a Lincoln Dairy Queen on May 14 — was sentenced Friday to intensive supervised probation.

Joseph Haase, an 11th grader when it happened, pleaded no contest to terroristic threats and theft by unlawful taking last month. District Court Judge Jeffre Cheuvront sentenced him Friday to three years intensive supervised probation and Work Ethic Camp in McCook.

Haase apologized to the store owners and said he knew what he did was wrong.

“It was the biggest mistake in my life,” he said.

Police say on May 14 three female employees opened the back door of the business at 614 N. 66th St. around 10:50 p.m. for a smoke break when three people wearing bandannas ran at them. One threatened them with a knife, and the other two held the employees down. Then they left with cash.

Police arrested Haase; Tanesha Lucht; Janae Haleem, who drove the getaway car; the 16-year-old employee who planned the crime; and a 14-year-old boy. The 14-year-old was sent to the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney. The rest are awaiting sentencing.
