COMMENTS

Class A

Omaha Central hit its stride at the right time, although a surging Bellevue East almost ended the Eagles’ reign. Creighton Prep pays a steep price for losing its last two games after a sterling season. Omaha Benson, which dealt Prep one of those losses, gets a big jump. Millard West enters after a late-season win against Bellevue East and pushing Bellevue West to overtime in the district final.

Class B

Beatrice stopped Elkhorn’s run that toppled Omaha Skutt, ending a three-peat chance, and Lincoln Pius X. Waverly stays ahead of three state tourney teams.

Class C-1

Hastings St. Cecilia got revenge for a football playoff loss and a basketball loss with its win against Pierce. O’Neill moves in after beating Ainsworth in districts.

Class C-2

Elmwood-Murdock and GICC caused a big shuffle when they combined to knock off Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the state tourney.

Class D-1Archbishop Bergan can make a claim on the Class C-1 title and, possibly the C-2 crown as well, after beating St. Cecilia and Grand Island Central Catholic during the regular season. Hay Springs enters on the strength of a one-point loss to Hayes Center.

Class D-2

Ewing tumbles after falling to St. Mary’s in the opening round. Sacred Heart earned its eighth state title, making coach Doug Goltz perfect in state title games.

" The C1 ratings are pretty much spot on except O'Neill should be ahead of Boone Central as they defeated them head-to-head during the season. "

" LSE not in the final Class A rankings? All of their losses but one were to State Tourney teams, LSE had no losses to losing teams, and they pushed Bell. East in the District final. Mill. West lost 2 games to losing teams, had two 2-pt wins over losing teams, and blew a 7-pt OT lead in the district final. "

" how come freeman is so low. they lost by three points to the class C-2 champ and the D-2 champ. Then in the district gave Bergan all they could handle "
