Three Lincoln men were arrested in connection to a bar assault early Friday.

Police were called to a disturbance at Randy’s Grill & Chill, 4747 Holdrege St., around 1:21 a.m., said Officer Katie Flood.

Three men had come into the bar and started chest bumping people and getting into people’s faces, trying to pick a fight, Flood said.

As a 36-year-old man was leaving the bar, Daniel L. Oaks, 23, 6631 Holdrege St. No. 6, allegedly approached him and struck him in the head with a wrench, Flood said. The victim sustained a two-inch laceration to his forehead and significant swelling to the left side of his head.

Before leaving the bar, Oaks allegedly struck a 2007 Chrysler 300, Flood said. While officers were gathering information in the parking lot, Oaks allegedly pulled up in a beige 1985 Chevy, driving 30 to 35 mph in an alley before squealing to a stop. Witnesses identified him as the person who had assaulted the man with a wrench.

As police were arresting Oaks, his two friends walked up to them, Flood said. Jake E. Sabin II, 28, 1910 NW 49th St., and Samuel D. Donahoo, 39, 120 Irving St., were cited and jailed on suspicion of disturbing the peace.

Oaks was arrested and jailed on suspicion of felony second-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident, willful reckless driving, having an open container, DUI and disturbing the peace, Flood said.
