A Lincoln man found guilty of conspiring to sell methamphetamine was sentenced to nine years in prison on Wednesday.

Mark M. Therien, 47, sold meth to an undercover Lincoln police officer on three occasions beginning in December 2007.  He was arrested in February and pleaded guilty in July in U.S. District Court to distributing between 500 grams and 1.5 kilograms of meth.

Therien has been in custody since Feb. 26.

" I definitely feel that this guy should be serving life and to make room for him, they should lessen penalties for petty crimes like murder and rape. "

" Is there another way that wouldn't involve all the expense involved with housing someone in jail? There's got to be a way that allows these people to pay for their treatment. Halfway houses or something? Jails should be for violent offenders. "

" Violent offenders? How about the double murder from earlier this year in which the suspect was under the influence of meth? Meth is a drug that produces violent, unpredictable behavior. So people on meth are very capable of being violent offenders. Think outside the box. "
