October was another strong month at the Lincoln Airport, with passenger traffic up 1 percent over the same month in 2007.

Passenger gains for Northwest Airlink and United Express more than offset the loss from Allegiant Air, which discontinued operations in September.

Northwest flew 1,200 more passengers than in October 2007, a 14 percent increase. United’s passenger count climbed 1,300 over October 2007, an 8 percent increase.

Passenger numbers have increased year-over-year three out of the last four months at the Lincoln Airport.

Lincoln’s gains have come at a time when other regional airports are seeing passenger numbers drop.

Traffic was down 2.7 percent in October at Omaha’s Eppley Airfield, the airport’s third straight monthly decline.

For the year, Lincoln’s passenger traffic is down 4 percent from 2007.

" Should've combined Omaha and Lincoln years ago. We'd have more biz then KCI. "

" Lincoln is great if there is a flight going to your destination. I parked, checked in, and got through security in less than 15 minutes. "

Someone who works at the airport wrote on November 18, 2008 7:11 pm:
" Flying out of Lincoln? lol as someone who works at the airport I can tell you that place is deader then a door nail. There isn't anyone coming or going from that place. Its so pitiful, there is more traffic at Silverhawk Aviation then Lincoln airport lol let alone Duncan. The Lincoln airport terminal is about as dead as it gets. They need to look at some of the other national air terminals to look for other ways of attracting people and flights. It would be nice if it would become a good layover spot but they can't compete with Omaha or Denver and it just isn't an honest stop off point in the path of highly traveled flights. Greater minds then the ones already managing the Lincoln airport need to be brought in because as someone who sees on a daily basis the kind of wasteful ignorant decissions that are made around that airport daily by the airport authority I can attest it will do anything but become the kind of airport it should be while under the current leadership its under. Just look at the parking, the roads around the airport, the poor management of the facilities on the West side of the airport, the drainage problems, the abundance of space they own for development that no one wants to come near because of rediculous prices and poor development of local services around the area. I've met high schoolers out on field trips to our facilities who have better ideas with what to do with all the empty buildings and undeveloped space then the bozos in charge of the airport authority currently. Talk about unmotivated, uninterested, lazy people who come up with pet projects to keep their employees busy just look at how long it takes them to tar a road that should be stripped and repaved. "

" Coming from Kearney, that extra 100 miles to Omaha is too much...especially with the road construction on I-80. I'll take the Lincoln Airport any time! "

" Some of us live out west here....and that Lincoln Airport is a big, big plus. I hate the traffic and the crowds at Omaha. I started flying out of Lincoln this year---I'll never darken Eppley again! "

" Guess what? Don't need to get to Lincoln at the crack of dawn just to make it through security. Another reason I'm done with Omaha. Go Lincoln! "

" To all those who love Lincoln for the small size and no traffic and crowds, what do you do when you get to the big airports and then have to return home? Do you all hyper-ventilate and cower in the corner until a nice person comes over and takes you by the hand to get to your plane for the return flight? "
