Man sentenced for sex texts to girl
By The Associated Press
GERING — A former Gering School District employee convicted of sending sexually explicit text massages to a 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.
Drew Sanders was convicted in July of enticement of a minor by electronic device. The 23-year-old Sanders had been a substitute paraeducator at the junior high and a part-time janitor at an elementary school until he resigned in April.
Sanders also was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to stay away from schools — other than the community college he’s attending — and have no contact with anyone younger than 18 outside of his family.
An arrest affidavit says Sanders sent sexually explicit messages to the girl for about a week after he and the teen began talking.
