Police look for men who robbed woman, 78
By the Lincoln Journal Star
Police are looking for the three men who came in a 78-year-old’s home and robbed her Wednesday night.
Officer Katie Flood said it happened at about 8 p.m. near 50th and J streets.
The woman was watching TV when three men she didn’t know came in through her kitchen door with hooded sweatshirts cinched tightly over their faces, Flood said.
She said the woman told police later, they were holding skinny silver knives and demanded money. She showed them her purse, and they took four envelopes held together with rubber bands containing $800 cash.
Then one of the men asked her “where is the safe?”
She showed them, but it only had documents.
Then the three left the same way they’d come in, through the kitchen door.
Flood said the woman wasn’t physically injured.
Police tried to track them with a police dog, but weren’t successful. They also canvassed the area, but couldn’t find any witnesses.
Flood said the woman described the suspects as black men, 5-feet-9 to 6-feet tall, skinny “like teenagers,” wearing dark-colored hoodies cinched tightly over their faces and holding skinny silver knives.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at (402) 475-3600.
