OMAHA — The economy may be faltering on the national scene, but Nebraskans are finding some relief at the pumps.

The statewide average price of a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline dropped below $3 on Tuesday. The prices have been steadily dropping in recent weeks and AAA says the figure was at $2.98 on Tuesday. That’s about 70 cents less than a month ago, but still more than what Nebraskans were paying a year ago.

AAA says the average price of a gallon of unleaded averaged $2.81 this time last year.
