Bellevue diners end up with bogus charges
BELLEVUE — Police are asking for the public’s help after dozens of people who dined at a Bellevue restaurant ended up with bogus charges to their bank and credit card accounts.
Police say they don’t suspect Lansky’s Restaurant or its employees of any wrongdoing. But, they’re still trying to figure out how the customers’ accounts were compromised — resulting in thousands of charges in at least seven states.
Authorities say the customers used their credit and debit cards to pay for food at the restaurant between June 8 and June 27.
Officials say at least one customer had as much as $20,000 in fraudulent charges on their account. But, the credit card and bank companies are covering all the customers’ bogus charges.
Lansky’s owner says new computers were put in immediately and more security upgrades are planned.
