Surveillance footage led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man suspected of stealing copper wire spools from Lincoln Electric System.

LES reported at least three thefts from their outdoor fenced facility at 2620 Fairfield Street, said Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood.

Seven spools of copper wire valued at $780 were stolen between Sept. 15 and Oct. 6, Flood said.

LES decided to install video surveillance to try to get an image of the thief, Flood said.

Investigators worked with an image of the suspect in the act of stealing wire and contacted different scrap businesses about people who had brought in copper around the time of the thefts, Flood said.

Ronald Gorham was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of theft, Flood said.
