Lincoln average gas price drops below $3 a gallon

As the national economy teeters, Nebraskans are finding more relief at the pumps.

The average price of a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline dropped below $3 in Lincoln on Wednesady, and the statewide average did so on Tuesday.

The prices have been steadily dropping in recent weeks as oil prices continue to plummet.   On Wednesday, oil prices were down at midday almost $4a barrel, to $74.71. 

Average gasoline prices, regular grade

Lincoln

Wednesday: $2.956

Tuesday: $3.001

Month ago: $3.776

Year ago: $2.793

Nebraska

Wednesday: $2.952

Tuesday: $2.982

Month ago: $3.729

Year ago: $2.808
