Injured Calif. man won't stand trial in Nebraska

KEARNEY, Neb. — A man who was the victim of an assault won’t have to travel to Nebraska to stand trial on drug charges.
Richard Pillesky II of Lantonville, Calif., faced one count of felony distribution of marijuana and one count of felony distribution of hashish after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 between Odessa and Elm Creek in February.
Deputy Buffalo County Attorney Mike Mefferd said the 34-year-old Pillesky is unable to stand trial because of his injuries.
In September, Pillesky attorney William O’Brien of Omaha asked that the case be continued because Pillesky was unable to sign his own name and travel.
Buffalo County District Court Judge Bill Wright dismissed the charges last week.
