Just in time for the chilly temperatures: The network Versus debuted a new show called “Sports Soup” last week. The half-hour show, hosted by comedian Matt Iseman, is a fast-paced mix of sports, pop culture and comedy in a monologue format.

The new show will pull clips from all sports media, ranging from football games to poker highlights to postgame interviews.

You can catch the show — if you have Versus (digital cable channel 229) — at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

SPEAKING OF VERSUS ...

The Huskers play Iowa State in football at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on Versus. If you have Time Warner, you need to have digital cable to watch the game. It can also be seen on channel 603 on DirecTV and channel 151 on DISH.

CATCHING HIS BREATH

Did college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit look like he was trying to catch his breath at the beginning of the Oklahoma-Texas game on Saturday? After ESPN’s “GameDay” ended at 11 a.m. at the Cotton Bowl, Herbstreit had to race up to the press box from the set and join Brent Musburger for ABC’s pregame at 11:01.

BASEBALL RATINGS DOWN

Television ratings for baseball’s division series declined from last year. The 15 games on TBS averaged a 2.8 rating, down 26 percent from 3.8 for 13 games in 2007.
