County loses federal funding for Nebraska road
OMAHA — Federal funding has been pulled from a $9.3 million road project in eastern Nebraska, leaving Sarpy County to foot most of the bill.
County surveyor Tom Lynam says he failed to provide the Federal Highway Administration with information about right-of-way clearances on the project, so funding was withdrawn.
Most of the money to repair the 96th Street bridge was supposed to come from the federal agency.
County commissioners voted Sept. 23 to pay $6.99 million for the project.
Federal money for the bridge repairs was withdrawn in June.
