A Lincoln woman who found a transient sleeping on her porch early Wednesday was stabbed when she woke the man.

The 28-year-old woman saw the man sleeping on the porch of her house on the 200 block of North 18th Street around 4 a.m., said Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood.

When the woman kicked the soles of the man’s boots to wake him, he sat up quickly and cut her twice on the arm with a Swiss Army pocket knife, Flood said. The man then took off.

The cuts were superficial, Flood said. One was about two inches long, the other about 2 1/2  inches.

The transient is described as a black man in his 30s, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches, 170 pounds and clean shaven, Flood said. He was wearing a dark stocking hat, a thick black coat, jeans and boots with black soles.

This is not the first time the woman, who recently moved in, has found a transient sleeping on her porch, Flood said.

Flood said she did not believe the woman had a couch on her porch.
