Boys charged as adults in Kearney assault

KEARNEY — Two 16-year-olds have been charged as adults in Buffalo County for allegedly assaulting two Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center employees and a Kearney police officer.
One boy faces three felony assault charges, another for attempted escape and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
The other boy faces three felony charges, among others, in the Sunday incident.
Robert Schulte and Jerry Moulton were assaulted by the boys, who were trying to escape at about midnight.
Dennis Leonard of the State Patrol said the men were hit in the head with pool balls that had been put into socks.
