Police look for man who assaulted girl
Police are looking for a man who tried to assault a 13-year-old girl on her way to school Tuesday morning.
A man approached the girl from behind as she was walking in the area of 11th and Groveland streets, pushed her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her, said Officer Katie Flood.
Flood didn’t have any details about why the man stopped, but he was last seen running south, she said.
The girl ran to Goodrich Middle School, 4600 Lewis Ave., where the assault was reported to police at 7:23 a.m., Flood said.
The suspect is described as an 18-to-20-year-old white man with blue eyes and short hair, about 6 feet 1 inch or 6 feet two inches, wearing a black puffy down jacket, white T-shirt and baggy blue jeans, Flood said.
