Lincoln has an event for those of you who have always wanted to go to Germany for Oktoberfest.

It’s not 16 days long, and you likely won’t find a bunch of people in funny clothes (although there may be a few).

There will, however, be plenty of beer.

Oktobeerfest details

The 15th annual Oktobeerfest is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lancaster Event Center.

Expect beer, food and entertainment by Lincoln Pipe and Drum.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, with designated drivers admitted free. Proceeds benefit the Nebraska Stroke Association.

Advance tickets are available by calling 484-8131 or visiting www.fourstargifts.com.

Here's a list of beer and food vendors:

Beer: Double Eagle, Empyrean Ales, Johnson Brothers, K and Z Distributing, SchillingBridge Winery and Microbrewery, Misty's Steakhouse and Brewery, Granite City Food and Brewery, Modern Monks, Spilker Ales, State Distributing Co., Lincoln Lagers, Upstream Brewery, Thunderhead, Boulevard and New Belgium.

Food: Wimmers Hot Dogs, Ramos Pizza and Buster's Barbecue, Karpisek's Market, daVinci's, Braeda Fresh Express Cafe, Parker's Rib Ranch, Colby Ridge, Above All Catering, Shadowbrook Salad Co., Skeeter Barnes, Mamasita's Restaurante, LaPaz Mexican Restaurant, Runza, Grandmother's Restaurant and Texas Roadhouse.

The 15th annual Oktobeerfest is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Lancaster Event Center, 84th Street and Havelock Avenue.

The event for ages 21 and older will feature more than 150 beers from local and national distributors as well as foods from area restaurants.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, with designated drivers admitted free. Proceeds benefit the Nebraska Stroke Association.

The first Oktobeerfest took place at the Villager Motor Inn.

“We had some beer and a few hors d’oeuvres, but it was still nice,” co-chairman Jim Krysl said. “It really took off when we moved it to the Lancaster Event Center.”

This will be Oktobeerfest’s fourth year at the center, Krysl said, with last year’s attendance reaching an all-time best of more than 800 people.

Krysl hopes this year’s will exceed 1,000.
