McLovin is coming to Lincoln on Wednesday and bringing along his new movie for an early preview.

McLovin, of course, was the nickname of the character Fogell from the 2007 hit comedy “Superbad.” The actor’s real name is Christopher Charles Mintz-Plasse.

An L.A. native, Mintz-Plasse had no acting experience beyond high school drama classes when he was cast as Fogell after going to an audition with two of his high school friends.

One of the primary players in the Judd Apatow produced film, Mintz-Plasse made an instant impression and earned rave reviews for his hilarious portrayal of Fogell. He’s the kid who gets the fake ID to get booze, then spends the night rolling around town with a pair of cops.

The role got him cast in four more films.

The first of those pictures to hit screens will be “Role Models,” set for release on Nov. 7.

“Role Models” was co-written by and co-stars Paul Rudd. He’s Danny, a salesman who, with his partner Wheeler (Seann William Scott), manages to trash a company truck on an energy drink-fueled bender. Their sentence: community service — mentoring a pair of kids for 150 hours.

Enter Augie, played by Mintz-Plasse, who with Ronnie (Bobb’e J. Thompson) makes jail seem like a better option than mentoring.

Mintz-Plasse will answer questions and sign autographs after the Wednesday night screening at the Ross Media Arts Center. He’ll also go to the Downtown Bar, 1430 O St., after the screening and Q&A session, where he will DJ, referee a beer pong tournament and hang out.

Admission to the “Role Models” screening is only by passes. A limited number of the passes, each of which will admit two people to the screening, will be available at the Lincoln Journal Star first-floor counter after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Journal Star is at 926 P St. One pass per customer, please.

As is the case with all such screenings, arrive early to be sure you get a seat.
