OMAHA, Neb. — U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson characterized Sarah Palin’s claim that Barack Obama “pals around with terrorists” as “Swift Boat politics.”

The Nebraska Democrat spoke Sunday evening in advance of an Omaha rally headlined by Palin.

Nelson called the comments from the GOP’s vice presidential nominee “a thinly veiled strategy to try to change the subject.”

Palin said Sunday that the Democratic presidential nominee’s association with a 1960s radical is an issue that is “fair to talk about.”

Obama has denounced the radical views and actions of Bill Ayers, a founder of the violent Weather Underground group during the Vietnam era.

" After Sarah Palin speaks, I always enjoy when the experts analyze what she has said and separate the lies from what is really true. I think many Nebraskans are wising up though. After so many lies, most of us are taking anything she says with a grain of salt. She is cute to be sure and I love her outfits, but I don't think this country is ready to have her as our President. " Gov. Palin is being disingenuous. Sen. Obama and Bill Ayers (once a radical and currently a professor at U of Illinois Chicago) both worked with a non-profit group trying to raise funds for a school improvement project and a charitable foundation in Chicago. It seems to me that the ability to work with someone in spite of their differing political views in order to achieve a common goal for community betterment is exactly what we need in politicians today. Wish we had more of them and less of the high school gossip monger types. "

We as a country are in dire straits if he gets elected. Why do you think these radicals support him now? They cannot wait to get their hands on running the government. I just hope all these Obama supporters wake up before it's to late. "

" Truth and politics do not go together. Both McPalin & Obiden were not dead on truthful about many things they said in their non-debate. Ditto McCain and Obama. It takes independent organizations and some media to determine what is truthful and what isn't when it comes to political speak. This whole election is a sad commentary on this country's leadership, or lack thereof. McCain's a blamer and rarely accepts responsibility for his votes. Obama is no John Kennedy. Or Bill Clinton. Talk is cheap. Step up and lead or get out of the way. We're at a time in America where we need strong leadership, and neither candidate is showing they are ready to lead. "

" It is just so frustrating to think that you people actually believe that Sarah Palin has come up with a single thing she has publicly said on her own. The stammering before Katie Couric is about the only original thought she's had. She is being spoonfed what to say by the Republican strategists. The woman is a community college graduate, pageant-trained, small town journalist that lucked out in Alaska politics because everyone she was running against was either corrupt or even lamer than her. It is just so frustrating. I look around me when I walk down the street and wonder who it is that actually falls for this act.
As for the swift boat attacks on Kerrey, the commander of the Navy swift boat who served alongside John Kerry during the Vietnam War stepped forward and disputed attacks challenging Kerry's integrity and war record. He called the allegations untrue, and said the accusers weren't even there. Partisan Republican stalwarts just wanted them to be true and never really bothered to look into the attacks. Cover your ears and keep voting against your very livelihoods. We can see how well that works by looking at the country now compared to eight years ago. Wake up! "

The Hillary Campaign tried to dig up every piece of dirt on him that they could find. Despite this and based on all of the information on him that came out, the deomocrats selected him to be the nominee over several other candidates. I think it's safe to say that Obama has been thoroughly vetted by other candidates, the press, and most importantly the American people for the better part of 2 years. Claiming that Obama wasn't vetted properly is pure ignorance. This Ayers story is old news. It came out many many months ago and is quite frankly garbage which is why the democrats selected Obama as their candidate. "

If Obama has heard these very humane views, then he has been enlightened by them. Who of us has not come into contact at sometime in our lives with someone who has had a dark or secret past. Condemning Barack Obama for knowing such a person is adsurd. Condemning Ayers for a past that he has put behind him is also adsurd. For those who are condemning either or both of them and who profess to be Christians, then they need to review the tenets of forgiveness in Christian teachings. "

After eight disastrous years, too many people in Nebraska are wanting four more years of the same simply because they refuse to accept the fact that the Republicans have really messed things up this time. Instead we are choosing to believe lies spewed by desparate politicians who hope people are too scared and too ignorant to know any better. Anyone with the internet can fact check vicious rumors whether they be about "Ayers, A.C.O.R.N., Wright, or the myriad of others"(whatever that means). We were willing to get a new group of football coaches at Nebraska when the Callahan reign failed. I would expect the same wisdom to hold true when it comes to politics. Their mission was to disrupt and destroy the United States government. Ayers hosted Obama's political comming out party in his home, how convenient since they live in the same neighborhood. Tony Rezko and Louis Farrakan also live there. Obama and Ayers have served on panels, gave speeches together. The real Michelle Obama had a slip of the tongue when she said for once, I'm proud to be an American. After associating themselves for 20 years with people that damn America, he wants to distance himself from them. Too little, too late. "
