Old police cruiser chased by police
Lincoln police searched Sunday for a former Bellevue Police Department cruiser stolen from a Lincoln business Saturday.
The white 2003 Ford Crown Victoria was being stripped of its police markings when it was stolen Saturday between 9 and 11 p.m.
It still had a blue stripe and the word “Bellevue” printed on the sides and the number “208” in blue paint on its trunk, said Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs. It also was equipped with spotlights.
An officer spotted the former cruiser going east on South Street near 10th Street at 3:23 p.m. Sunday and chased it.
The officer stopped the chase near 13th and Lake streets, Beggs said, because it became dangerous to others. The car was valued at $3,500.
