OMAHA, Neb. — A new health center for seniors is under construction at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Ground was broken this month on the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging.

The $10.2 million facility will include departments for geriatric medicine and geriatric psychiatry, along with a wellness center. Seniors who are treated there will be able to take part in clinical trials to alleviate geriatric diseases.

UNMC says it will be the only university-affiliated health center in the state that’s dedicated solely to geriatric health.

Funding for the project came from private donors.
