Holmesville man dies following car-semi collision
By the Lincoln Journal Star
A Holmesville man was pronounced dead at the scene of a car-semi accident early Thursday morning west of Adams, according to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
Anthony Ideus, 23, was driving in a 1991 Dodge Spirit when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Nebraska 41 and State Highway Spur 34B. As the car travelled through the intersection, it was hit on the driver’s side by a semitrailer driving eastbound on 41.
Ideus’ car came to a stop in a cornfield northeast of the intersection. Rescue workers transported Ideus to a field about a half-mile from the accident site, where a Star Care helicopter was prepared to transport him. Ideus, however, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi, James Miller Jr., 75, of Maiden, N.C., was taken to BryanLGH Medical Center West for injuries sustained during the accident. Miller’s son was also in the vehicle, but received minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
All three were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.
