Fremont senior Mitch Hunt finished first with a time of 16 minutes, 21 seconds at the Nebraska Wesleyan High School Invitational at Pioneers Park on Saturday.

Lincoln Northeast's Trevor Vidlak had an impressive first meet of his senior season, finishing second in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16:39.

"Trevor's racing better this year," Northeast coach John Snoozy said. "He's already 40 seconds ahead of last year."

As expected, Fremont repeated as boys team champion.

In the girls 4,000-meter race, Omaha Marian senior Kelli Budd prevailed. She's won races this season by margins of 1:41 and 1:08. Omaha Marian won an exciting girls team race in which three teams (Omaha Marian, Fremont and Lincoln East) could have won it.

Marian, which has won the last five Class A titles, placed its five scoring runners in the top 16. East's Britni Waller finished fourth in 16:03.
