A 47-year-old Lincoln man was beaten and then robbed early Sunday outside an apartment at Ninth and A streets.

The victim told police he was picking up his cousin when three men walked up to him and started hitting him, said Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs.

They then stole his wallet and $31, Beggs said.

The victim was able to escape in his car. He was treated and released for cuts and a swollen nose at BryanLGH Medical Center West, Beggs said.

" I have lived in the West A area most of my life. I think we all know that crime will happen in any neighborhood, but Lincoln just isnt what it used to be. It is sad that this happened to this man, who was just helping his family out. And I am glad the imbicils who took his money only got 31 bucks. Geeze, if they spent thier time working, they would of made better money. "

" If most criminals spent their time working a 9-5 (or 12-8, or whatever they like) they would make about the same money they get mugging people. Makes you wonder if the real addiction people have now is lazyness... "

" I hope the LPD is taking the rash of "muggings" seriously. Maybe they could send a decoy out there and blast the bad guys when they come at him. It really isnt that difficult. "
