Repairs force closure of road over Harlan County dam
ALMA — The road across Harlan County Dam in south-central Nebraska will be closed four to six weeks for repairs.
Jim Bowen of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the county road has deteriorated to the point that it poses safety problems.
He said the old asphalt surface will be removed, repairs will be made on the road base and then new asphalt will be laid over about two miles of roadway.
The project cost is estimated at nearly $1.2 million.
Detour signs will direct traffic toward roads south of the reservoir.
