KEARNEY — A district judge has reversed the convictions of two former Furnas County deputies who were accused of getting alcohol for two underage women.

Cleared were 25-year-old Dallas Helms and 25-year-old Patrick Stewart.

Buffalo County District Court Judge John Icenogle says the evidence produced against them during their January trial wasn’t clear enough for convictions.

Buffalo County Court Judge Graten Beavers had found both men guilty of misdemeanors for procuring alcohol for minors — two women, then 19 and 20.

The men were fired shortly after their arrests last year.

Buffalo County Attorney Shawn Eatherton is checking whether there any grounds to appeal.
