Grand jury to review death of Omaha man
OMAHA — A grand jury will convene next month to review the death of an Omaha man who was shot by an off-duty police officer.
LeRoy Goodwin was shot last May in the parking of a gas station. Authorities say Officer Jarvis Duncan shot Goodwin moments after Goodwin allegedly shot and wounded another man.
Police say Duncan and another off-duty officer were providing security at the gas station when a fight broke out.
According to police, the officers were trying to break up the crowd when Goodwin pulled out a gun and shot Michael Moss. That’s when Jarvis shot Goodwin.
The grand jury will convene Oct. 14 to determine if the officers acted appropriately.
