A handful of notable shows have just been announced for Lincoln, led by a Stone Temple Pilots concert at Pershing Center and the return of Matthew Sweet to his hometown.

Sweet’s show is one of three notable concerts set for the State Theatre over the next month.

On Sept. 26, Pete Best, the original drummer of The Beatles, who got the boot in favor of Ringo Starr, will return to Lincoln for a show at the State.

On 0ct. 15, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk will play the theatre at 1415 O St. The New Orleans funk band was originally scheduled to play the Zoo Bar’s 35th Anniversary Celebration this summer, but cancelled. It is led by Ivan Neville, the son of Aaron Neville and nephew of The Neville Brothers, with whom he has often appeared live and on record.

Sweet, who has just released “Sunshine Lies” to strong reviews, will be at the State on Oct. 21.

Details on tickets for the State shows have not yet been released.

STP will be at Pershing Center on Oct. 28.

Tickets for that show are $39.50, $49.50, and a limited number of Gold Circle seats at $65.00. All seats are reserved. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pershing box office, all Ticketmasters locations, at ticketmaster.com and by calling 473-1212.

STP has recently reunited and are back on the road for the first time in nearly eight years. In the interim, frontman Scott Weiland fronted Velvet Revolver, a supergroup of sorts, and the other members were in the band Army of Anyone.

STP has sold more htna 40 million copies of its albums worldwide over the last 15 years and is known for hits such as “Plush,” “Vasoline,” “Big Empty,” “Sex Type Thing,” “Creep” and “Interstate Love Song.”

" You go to sleep, wake up, and it's 1996.

Back in the day, STP did a pretty good show. Of course, that was many, many drugs ago. "
