HASTINGS — A 3-year-old Hastings girl is recovering in an Omaha Hospital after being hit by a car.

Hastings authorities said Alivia Schaaf was walking across a Hastings street Tuesday afternoon with her 5-year-old brother near an elementary school when she was hit. The boy was not injured.

The girl was taken to a Hastings hospital, then to Children’s Hospital in Omaha. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The 16-year-old driver of the car told police that the sun was in her eyes and that she didn’t see the little girl.
