Lincoln man arrested on suspicion of growing mushrooms

A Lincoln man was arrested Wednesday after crime lab tests showed he was allegedly attempting to grow psylocybin mushrooms.
David W. Miller, 21, 1122 F St., Apt. 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to manufacture a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said Thursday.
In July, Flood said, someone called Crimestoppers, saying there was a possible marijuana growing operation at the apartment. Police interviewed Miller and searched the home on July 29.
Flood said investigators found 44 jars with plant material, organic potting soil and psilocybe spore injectors. Evidence tested at the Nebraska State Crime Lab showed the spores were psilocybic in nature, meaning they contain psychedelic substances.
Once the lab tests were completed, Miller was arrested. He remained in custody Thursday evening.
