Omaha officer wounded in shooting goes home
By The Associated Press
OMAHA — An Omaha police officer critically wounded in a shooting last month is out of the hospital.
Paul Latschar, who was shot several times during a late-night traffic stop on Aug. 20, was released from Creighton University Medical Center on Monday.
Corey Allen is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder and several weapons counts.
Police say Allen got out of his car after being stopped and began firing, hitting Latschar. Latschar’s partner was not shot, and returned fire.
Allen was not hit and ran off. He was arrested a short time later.
