The wording of a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban preferential treatment to minorities and others will stay as supporters wanted it.

Supporters of the ban said Lancaster County District Court Judge Steven Burns made just two minor changes on Friday.

Opponents had wanted substantial changes in the ballot language, saying the current wording is misleading and could confuse voters.

Supporters say the lawsuit was an attempt to keep voters from being allowed to decide the issue.

The language says government entities in the state “shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, individuals or groups based upon race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin” in public hiring, education and contracting.

" Half the people who signed the petition didn't understand it. Don't vote if you don't understand. "

" Of course says someone that looks to have a bias. When you have no other ammunition, say something disparaging about the other person. Ad hominem. "

" The language seems pretty easy to understand, let the people vote. "

" Regardless of how the proposed amendment got in front of the people...it is in front of the people. It will not be enacted until it is voted upon. Now is when people need to be educated as to what the amendment would mean if it is approved. Forget the rhetoric and concentrate on whether or not the amendment is what you want...then vote. "
