Supporters of Ralph Nader say they’re confident they have enough petition signatures to have him listed as a presidential candidate on Nebraska’s election ballot.

They say they’ll hand over more than 5,000 signatures to Secretary of State John Gale on Friday.

About half that many signatures are needed to get a candidate on the ballot, but they must meet specific criteria to be valid. Signatures from voters who registered as members of political parties and who cast ballots in the last presidential primary won’t count, but signatures from independents who voted in the primary will.

Aaron Lotz of Nader’s Nebraska campaign says he doesn’t know how many signatures pass muster, but he’s confident Nader will be on the ballot.

Nader is a consumer advocate and political activist.

" Can't they be satisfied they gave us George Bush the past 8 years? Isn't that enough???? "

" they kept Ralph Nader in a freezer for the last four years just to trot him out again. I wish he wouldn't run, but maybe another crushing defeat will convince him that enough is enough; he will never get elected. "

" No, we only like third-party candidates that leech votes from the Repubs, not when they leech votes from our candidate. Yes, we're hypocrites. "

" where is this guy the rest of the time between presidential elections???
I guess he only shows up anymore when he can get national exposure and take a few votes from the dems. I don't care, let him run. I'm with the GOP anyway. "

" Sure, let's make sure McCain wins everywhere. Giving us 8 years of Dubya wasn't enough for the Nadarites. "

" Nader isn't a spoiler. Democrats who don't stand for the interests of their constituents, however, are. That's why they missed it in 2004. Let Nader DEBATE and get him on the ballots! "

" Surprisingly, I'm with "whatever", except for the GOP part. How come this famous "grassroots" campaign only happens in the last months of presidential elections? Nader is old news. He's a Perot. His fifteen minutes are over. At least this time everybody knows it. "

" Let those who want to run and serve be treated with the same respect, dignity and coverage of the 2 "major" parties. Our country is better if we have complete discourse of all the issues and all points of view, not with only the views of a couple of parties that differ little. This former Republican believes it a moral and ethical imperative that we have an open system, not the closed system we have now. "
