NET Television will broadcast nine Nebraska volleyball matches this season, beginning with this weekend’s Runza/AVCA Showcase at Qwest Center Omaha.

NET will produce seven of the broadcasts, beginning with Nebraska’s Big 12 showdown against Texas on Sept. 20. Other Big 12 Conference home matches set to air on NET include Kansas (Sept. 24), Baylor (Oct. 15), Texas A&M (Oct. 22), Iowa State (Nov. 1) and Missouri (Nov. 12). NET will also carry Nebraska’s match at Creighton on Oct. 5.

BASKETBALL: Former Creighton player Todd Eisner is returning to the men’s basketball program as an assistant coach. Eisner leaves Bellevue University, where in eight years as head coach, he twice led the Bruins to the NAIA Division II national championship game.

CROSS COUNTRY: Both the men’s and women’s teams at Nebraska Wesleyan were ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III national polls released Wednesday.

The NWU men, the highest-ranked team in the Central Region, are No. 12 in the preseason poll. The NWU women, who were ranked fifth in the Central Region poll, were ranked 30th overall.

SOCCER: Chris Schuler of the Creighton men’s team has been named a second-team preseason All-American by Soccer America. The junior defender has started 39 of his first 40 matches at Creighton. The sixth-ranked Bluejays open the season Friday when they host Gonzaga at 7:30 p.m. at Morrison Stadium.
