Police ticketed a 34-year-old licensed child care provider on suspicion of child neglect Tuesday after she allegedly left a 10- and 8-year-old in the care of her 10-year-old daughter.

Becky Ryan, of 4211 N. 11th St., was cited after police got a call from a Nebraska Health and Human Services worker who went to Ryan’s home child care at about 9:30 a.m. and didn’t find her there.

Police say the woman rang the doorbell and knocked several times before Ryan’s daughter opened the door. Police found Ryan had gone to the gym and then to take her son to the hospital for surgery.

The parents of the two children didn’t know.
