Police continue to investigate the deaths of a Lincoln couple found in their bedroom Monday afternoon.

Lincoln Police Chief Tom Casady said investigators found keys in the ignition of a car in the garage below the bedroom of Angela Grueber, 31, and Brandon Grueber, 30.

Carbon monoxide levels were dangerously high at the home when emergency responders arrived, Officer Katie Flood said.

The car had been turned on, Casady said, but was not running by the time authorities arrived at about 2:45 p.m. Monday. A relative of the Gruebers had reported an emergency minutes earlier upon entering their 3541 N. 72nd St. home. The Gruebers were found unresponsive in their bed.

Casady said police had no information so far that led them to believe that murder or suicide was the cause of death.

" Questions of Why? are a normal response to a death. The question haunts me and may haunt others who knew of this couple. Questions that I would like answered are was the car out of gas. Did the couple have a self-starting remote that could have triggered the car unknowingly. Who saw this couple last or more pertinently what was the approximate time of death?

I guess it means not so much WHY this happened but HOW? "
