OMAHA — An Omaha man has been sentenced to five years in prison for robbing the same financial institution three times in a two-week span.

U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Bataillon on Friday also ordered 31-year-old Phillip Matthew Weber to serve three years’ probation and pay a $300 fine.

Weber pleaded guilty in May to bank robbery. He had faced up to 20 years in prison for each robbery.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office says Weber made off with nearly $10,000 total from the Creighton Federal Credit Union after robbing the business on Feb. 5, 13 and 19. In all three robberies, Weber claimed to have a bomb.

" How can we have law and order when the judges are just as bad as the robber for giving such a lite sentence "

" What a deal. Rob a bank for $10,000 and only have to pay a $300 fine with little jail time and probation. "

" Come on Dave. I'm surprised he got prison time at all. His lawyer must have forgotten that these days it's OK to break the law as long as you are "only trying to make a better life for yourself & your family". Or doesn't that rule apply to American citizens??? "

" Amazing someone can rob a bank and get 5 years. Rob a quick shop or someone on the street and get 20 years. Some of these sentencing laws make no sense . "

" I think you people need to realize what 5 years of your life is... i highly doubt any of you have done any time. theres a reason none of you answer by the name of "your honor" "
