Left-handed pitcher Zach Herr is listed on the Eugene Emeralds’ active roster, according to the team’s Internet site.

This means the 21-year-old reliever will forgo his senior season at Nebraska after signing a profressional contract with the San Diego Padres organization.

The Padres drafted Herr in the 38th round this June after he posted a 3-0 record with a 4.24 ERA, striking out 49 batters in only 34 innings.
