Yount hitless as South routs North
Fort Worth's Brian Fryer went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a home run to lead the South Division to an 11-4 victory Tuesday night in the American Association All-Star Game in St. Paul, Minn.
Dustin Yount, the only Saltdog to make the North's roster, started at first base and went 0-for-3 with a walk to lead off the North’s three-run ninth inning. But the late rally wasn't enough after Fryer's outburst.
In addition to his hits, the Fort Worth outfielder had four RBIs and three runs scored to earn MVP honors.
Former Saltdog Kevin Sullivan also made the North roster, and went 0-for-2.
Former St. Paul Saint Darryl Strawberry was an honorary captain, and Bill Murray made a visit to the mound in the eighth inning to talk with the North Division team.
The Saltdogs will travel to Shreveport to take on the Sports at 7:05 p.m. today.
