Fire out quickly at Penske Truck Rental
A local truck rental company escaped a potentially huge loss after a Wednesday morning fire.
Firefighters were called to Penske Truck Rental, 3930 W. Calvary Court, at 7:32 a.m., according to Deputy Chief Bruce Sellon.
The fire, which started in a parts area, was under control by 7:52 a.m., Sellon said.
The building is worth about $750,000 and its contents are worth about $500,000, so the loss could have been very high, Sellon said.
Luckily, the actual loss amounted to about $25,000 to the building and $20,000 to the contents, Sellon said.
There was some electrical damage to the parts area and smoke damage throughout the building, Sellon said.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is focusing on some hot ceiling lights, Sellon said.
If those particular kind of lights fail, the bulb can explode, raining sparks, he said.
