Class A Boys

  1. Millard South (17-4)

  2. Creighton Prep (15-5)

  3. Millard West (18-4)

  4. Omaha Westside (14-5)

  5. Columbus (14-4)

  6. Omaha South (15-4)

  7. Lincoln East (10-6)

  8. Lincoln Southwest (12-3)

  9. Kearney (14-3)

10. Millard North (11-7)

Comments: Preseason top-ranked Millard South stumbled for a time with losses to Millard West, Omaha South, Omaha Westside and Lincoln East. But when it mattered most, the Patriots were the best team in a state tournament field where six teams could have easily won it. Lincoln Southwest and Kearney are the rated teams that didn’t make it to state.

Class B Boys

  1. Omaha Skutt (17-2)

  2. Lincoln Pius X (16-1)

  3. Lincoln Lutheran (15-3)

  4. Elkhorn (12-7)

  5. South Sioux City (12-4)

  6. Waverly (13-4)

  7. York (11-9)

  8. Gretna (9-5)

  9. Schuyler (11-5)

10. Columbus Scotus (9-7)

Comments: Preseason top-ranked Skutt moved back into the top spot on the final night of the season. It was the SkyHawks’ fourth state title in six seasons. Lincoln Lutheran’s only losses came against Pius X, and the Warriors had wins against Skutt and Elkhorn. York kept avenging previous losses late in the season and played Pius X tough for a time in the opening round of state.

Class A Girls

  1. Millard North (18-1)

  2. Omaha Westside (18-4)

  3. Millard West (17-4)

  4. Lincoln Southeast (14-4)

  5. Omaha Marian (17-3)

  6. Lincoln Southwest (12-2)

  7. Lincoln East (10-6)

  8. Bellevue East (10-7)

  9. North Platte (10-7)

10. Lincoln North Star (10-6)

Comments: The Class A championship match was a great one, with Millard North beating Omaha Westside 2-1. The game featured two of the best players in the state, Westside’s Rebecca Crabb and Millard North’s Molly Thomas, and strong supporting casts. Thomas, a Nebraska recruit, shined on the biggest stage. Lincoln Southeast makes a jump by winning seven straight to end the season before losing to Westside in the state semifinals.

Class B Girls

  1. Elkhorn (20-2)

  2. Omaha Skutt (16-2)

  3. Gretna (12-5)

  4. Lincoln Pius X (12-5)

  5. Omaha Mercy (10-5)

  6. Norris (11-5)

  7. Hastings (13-4)

  8. Kearney Catholic (12-5)

  9. Omaha Gross (7-6)

10. Columbus Scotus (9-7)

Comments: Elkhorn coach Judy Breed retired from teaching last season but kept coaching. She was rewarded with back-to-back state championships. It came in dramatic fashion, though, as the Antlers went to a shootout in both the semifinals and finals. Norris upset Pius X in the district final, proving it could play with great teams, too.

" SW should be the highest rated Lincoln boys team. They won the city title and ended up splitting with East in a shootout. Even East's coach said they better team didn't win. "

" SW girls beat SE and won the city title. SW should be rated highest. "

" but in both instances southwest choked when the games really mattered showing their inconsistency. If you want to be rated higher you have to win the big games. plain and simple. stop crying about it. "

" i couldn't agree more with the post above. SW boys didn't make it to state and SW girls lost in the first round. The ratings aren't based off how bad you can beat easy teams by, but how well you compare to the good ones and that is where your programs fell. SE girls beat Marian who beat SW. Many teams beat East who beat SW boys. If you don't have the wins, you won't get the rankings, sorry. All is fair except when things aren't going your way right SW? "

" I am an Omaha girl's soccer fan. Why is Millard West ahead of Lincoln SE? SE beat Millard West on the last day of the regular season. Something SW was not able to do. "

" I don't know for sure but maybe it has something to do with strenght of schedule. Strenght of schedule comes into play with other sports maybe it applies here too. "

" Last time I checked Lincoln SE played the toughest schedule of any Lincoln girl's soccer team. There four losses included two one goal losses to Westside, one a shootout. All we hear on this blog is about the greatness of SW. Lincoln SW played an incredibly easy schedule, losing 2-0 to Marian in their only venture up to Omaha. Beating Millard West, especially late in the season puts them ahead of Millard West in my book. "
