Lincoln and Sioux Falls didn’t get a game in because of rain. It has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader Aug. 14 at 6:05 p.m., with two seven-inning contests.

What went wrong: Rain, rain, rain.

What went right: An unexpected day off after back-to-back losses dropped the Saltdogs into a three-way tie for first in the American Association’s North Division.

Dog bytes: The Saltdogs finish off the homestand with a three-game series with archrival St. Paul starting Friday at 7:05 p.m. St. Paul currently shares the divisional lead. The Saints are led by Pichi Balet, a former Saltdog who is hitting .474 since coming off a foot injury. The Saints count on standout starting pitcher Charlie Ruud (10-1), but he pitched earlier this week and will probably be on the sideline this weekend. The Saltdogs will start Jarrett Gardner (6-3) in the series opener. ... Designated hitter Mario Delgado continues to lead Lincoln with a .357 batting average, and second baseman Skip Adams is second with a .337 average.
