Sioux City man changes attorney in murder case

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A Sioux City man accused of killing a Nebraska teenager has a new attorney.
A judge on Tuesday appointed a new attorney for Matthew Hettinger after his other attorney asked to withdraw from the case.
Hettinger had switched attorneys in June, after the entire Woodbury County public defender’s office was allowed to withdraw due to a conflict of interest. Last month’s order didn’t specify the conflict of interest. Tuesday’s order gave no reason for the most recent switch.
Hettinger, 24, is accused of shooting 15-year-old Raina Hulit of South Sioux City, Neb., in January during a party and dumping her body in a park.
His trial is set for Aug. 19 in Woodbury County District Court.
