OMAHA — Two more Nebraska cities are considering a ban on pit bulls, becoming the latest additions to the ever-growing list.

Holdrege began discussions Tuesday night in a city council meeting. The Hastings City Council talked Monday after a local man was attacked.

Michael Heuertz told the Hastings council that a pit bull attacked him and his mother’s dog during a walk.

Council members say they need more information before any decisions are made.

In June, the city of Osceola banned pit bulls along with seven other breeds within its city limits.

Omaha officials also are talking about banning the breed after a dog attacked four people in June and ripped part of the scalp from a 15-month-old girl’s head.
