A 24-year-old Lincoln man suffered a broken jaw after two men robbed him outside Big John's Billiards Wednesday night.

The man told police he was standing in front of the business at Fourth Street and Sun Valley Boulevard around 10:20 p.m. when two unknown men approached him and began to punch him, said Capt. Jim Thoms.

One of the men told the victim to stay away from his girl, Thoms said.

They punched him four times in the face, then one of them reached into his pocket and stole the victim’s work I.D., Thoms said. They struck him four more times before leaving in two separate cars.

The victim suffered several cuts and abrasions, Thoms said. When he went to the hospital, he learned he had a broken jaw and received three stitches to a cut above his left eye.

" Big John's may have a tough time blaming this one on the smoking ban. "

" So Andy, do you propose drawing your weapon anytime someone approaches you? What if you are walking and you hear footsteps coming up fast behind you, but it turns out to be a jogger. I sure hope you never shoot someone for tapping you on the shoulder alerting you to the fact you dropped your wallet. Life must be so simple in some people's minds. "

" Once we have an arena for entertaining young people this kind of incident will be non-existent. "

" Because young people never fight? Get a clue..this kind of thing happens to all age groups. Sometimes you see more crime done by the younger crowd because they just get wrist slapped when they are caught. "
