Does anyone have recipes for fried chicken like the Red Rooster in Lincoln and onion rings like Parker's Steak House in Denton once served? They were both DEEEElicious!

 — Jodie Gomez, Greenwood

I grew up going to the Wendelin's Bakery on about 17th and South streets. They had the most incredible donuts, cakes and bread that I have ever eaten. I have since moved away from Lincoln, but visit often. I am trying to find the recipe for Wendelin's chocolate frosting.  If anyone has this delicious recipe, please send it to me. I would love to keep the flavor alive!

In response to a request from Betty Burklund of  Geneva, Jan wrote via e-mail: “I fix sweet potato fries two ways. Oven fries: Cut peeled potato into wedges (depends on size of yam). Drizzle with olive oil, salt/pepper or any dry seasonings you like. Spread in single layer in baking pan and pop into hot 450-degree oven for 15-20 minutes. I also deep fat fry them just like a french fry. Cut into fry size and fry in hot oil for just a couple of minutes. They cook very quickly and can turn dark brown in a blink of the eye! Yum! Beats regular french fries hands down. My husband absolutely hated yams…the candied, marshmallowy type served at Thanksgiving. Now, he requests these all the time! It's fun to try different seasonings, spicy is good! Hope this helps."
