Zoo Bar celebrates anniversary
By the Lincoln Journal Star
The Zoo is Lincoln's internationally-known club and it's one of the longest running music venues anywhere in the country.
This year's anniversary celebration not only celebrates the bar's past, with artists like blues icon Charlie Musselwhite, but looks to the future with the likes of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.
One of the featured bands of the week is Dave Gonzalez and the Stone River Boys, who will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Gonzalez, who has come to the Zoo with his former band, The Paladins and most recently with The Hacienda Brothers, is thrilled to return and play the festival.
“I started playing there in ‘84 or ‘85,” Gonzalez said. “I’ve loved playing there. It’s a real special place. There’s such a history there. It’s an institution that’s the heart of the blues.”
