Fireworks may have started Hickman garage fire
By the Lincoln Journal Star
A Hickman family was displaced from their home early Saturday after their attached garage went up in flames.
The fire started near the garage in a garbage can containing fireworks, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
As the fire spread around 2:30 a.m., the family dog woke the residents. They fled the home without injury.
The Hickman and Firth fire departments, as well as firefighters from Lincoln, responded to the fire.
After the fire was extinguished, damage was estimated at about $75,000 to the structure and about $25,000 to its contents.
