Saltdogs drop St. Paul 4-1
Jarrett Gardner allowed one run on four hits in seven innings Friday as the Saltdogs beat St. Paul 4-1. The crowd of 9,056, the second largest in Saints history, saw Gardner notch his second win against the Saints this season.
Eduardo Rios gave the Saltdogs an early lead with an RBI single in the first inning, driving in Skip Adams. The Saints’ only run scored in the third on a bloop single by Josh Womack.
With the game tied at 1, Mario Delgado gave Lincoln the lead for good with a solo homer in the fourth. Shawn McGill and Corey Harrington added two-out RBIs in the sixth and eighth innings.
Former Saltdogs Kevin Sullivan and Pichi Balet combined to go 0-for-8 with four strikeouts. Ryan Priddy, another former Saltdog, had two doubles but struck out with two runners on base to end the game.
The Saltdogs and Saints resume their series at 7 Saturday night. Ryan Trytten is scheduled to start for Lincoln against St. Paul’s Mark Romanczuk.
